The Stroke Sisterhood was founded in the North of England which is likely to be where most events will take place. However, as we expand we will scatter our locations across the UK.
-
No. Although we expect most of our audience to gravitate from stroke survivor status, we also welcome carers and/or friends and family of a stroke survivor.
-
The Stroke Sisterhood is available worldwide. You don’t have to be from the UK to become a member or join the Facebook group but be aware that all events will take place in the UK.
-
Yes. Our platform is specifically for young women and girls. We prefer to keep the threshold at age 15-45 but we wouldn’t turn away anyone who falls between that age bracket, especially if you care for a stroke survivor.
-
Yes. Our community is at the heart of women who are affected by stroke. This does include trans women and non-binary individuals.
-
No. The Stroke Sisterhood is completely free to sign up. However, we would be super grateful if you’d like to donate via Ko-fi as this will ensure in-person events are able to be funded and put into place.
-
You are welcome to attend any event you are interested in but you have to RSVP on our events page so we can make a count of the numbers. You cannot just turn up without informing us.
-
The Stroke Sisterhood events are exclusively for community members. You can view a calendar of the events on our page but you need to register to our site-based membership to purchase the tickets and RSVP your attendance.
As events are free to attend, we need to monitor this accordingly via offical membership verification.
-
Given we’re just getting started, The Stroke Sisterhood events will be scarce but once we build a prominent community, we hope to host events bi-monthly.
-
Completely! If you need adjustments for online events please do get in touch. Any in-person venues will be confirmed accessible before booking. Accessibility issues will always be touched upon in our newsletter when it comes to both on and offline events to make sure everyone’s needs are met.

That’s understandable. New environments are anxiety-inducing even without the added layer of stroke-related worries.
First and foremost, we are all in the same boat so we will do our very best to accomodate. Secondly, we recommend beginning with low-key events if you are unsure. Thirdly, we will always be here to support you both individually and as a group. Do not hesitate to inform us of any physical, emotional or social support you may need.
-
Not necessarily as there will be regular updates and reminders on our Facebook group but we do suggest becoming a member so you can gather the information and confirm attendance straight away.
Our Facebook group is more for everyday conversation, whereas our members page is where all the content will be.
-
Absolutely. Being such a small organisation we need all the help we can get. Whether that’s from official businesses or regular people.
Pop us an email as we always love hearing from and working with other organisations that want to raise our profile, bring awareness, and support, uplift, connect and empower women.
